Electromyogram (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Studies are electrical tests of specific nerves and muscles to determine the point at which pain, numbness and/or weakness originates. These tests check how well your spinal cord, nerve roots, and nerves are working.
Although only a very low-voltage electrical current is used, and each electrical pulse is less than a split-second in length, there may be some discomfort.
