Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon, the strong fibrous tissue that connects muscle to bone. It can include pain or tenderness in the joint or surrounding area, especially around the shoulder, wrist, elbow or ankle. The pain may come gradually, or it can be sudden and severe. You may also experience stiffness that, along with the pain, restricts the movement of the joint, or you may see mild swelling or thickening of the tendon near the joint.

Your treatment plan may include resting the area, sometimes using a split to restrict movement. Your pain management specialist at CPS may also recommend anti-inflammatory medication or physical therapy.
